I’m not going to say much about this movie…well, not what it’s about. What I will say though…is that everyone needs to go out and see this at the movie theatre!! I loved this movie!! I enjoy a lot of horror movies and have been disappointed with almost all o them. Yet, I still go and see them….I think that might make me a masochist. But anyway, I came into this not really hoping for too much. It was great!!! I loved the audience reaction. The audience was great. It was almost like an interactive movie!! The best part was when a guy in the audience screamed out, ” this shit ain’t for black people!” It was pretty funny. Go. See. This. Movie.

Julie & Julia and The Ugly Truth

I went to the movies the other day…with my bestest pally. We did this double movie thing. And it was awesome!!! We saw Julie & Julia and The Ugly Truth. I had a blast!! I love both movies!!!

The Ugly Truth was hilarious!!! We saw that one first. Yes, it’s a chick flick…but with dirty guy humor!! I think guys would actually like this film. Maybe I’m stretching it a little for that, but it’s worth a try. I absolutely LOVE Gerard Butler!

Can you say yummy? I definitely can!!! The only thing that I can really complain about in this movie; where was his lovely accent? I miss his accent!!!! I could stare at this man all day long. Shoot, I could listen to him talk all day long. I absolutely loved…I know I keep saying the word love with this man…his accent in the movie P.S. I Love You. As sad as that movie was, I would watch it over and over just to see and hear him. Is that pathetic? Yes. Do I care? No. And the greatest thing about this guy…is that he keeps making more movies!!! Ha! I can’t wait for Gamer to come out. I’m not too impressed with the whole plot of the movie, but I’m willing to sit through it at least once just to see this man in it. I know I can’t help it. He’s hot and sexy.

Speaking about the movie again…I really like Katherine Heigl as an actress too. She’s really pretty, but not overly so. I liked her ever since she was in (back then WB now CW) Roswell TV show.  If you’ve never seen that show…oh man…look into it. It was one of the better shows. Jason Behr was in it…yeah…hotness…drool.

Julie & Julia was a movie that I really needed to see. Not that I’m this big up and coming cook or anything. But it really got me motivated. Which is a good thing. I didn’t really expect to be inspired by the movie, but I was. It inspired me to do something with my life and not just sit back. I’ve been entertaining this whole blogging thing for some time. I just ouldn’t ever seem to find my niche. Well, why do I have to have a niche? Yes, Julie & and Julia is about cooking and finding out what she wanted out of life with that. Well, I’m into a little more things than just cooking. Although, cooking s something that I really look forward to learning how to do more of….but I have a lot of interests. I might as well share some of that with people. But I also have a lot of weird things happen to me…on a mostly day to day basis. I can use this as a way to chronicle my life. Plus, it just helps me with my writing.

Amy Adams and Meryl Streep were awesome in this movie!! Especially Meryl Streep. She did a great Julia Childs. I remember, when my dad was alive, on the weekends there seemed to never be anything on TV. We almost always ended up on some cooking channel and more likely than not it was with Julia Childs. I wonder how long it took Meryl Streep to get all the details that made Julia Childs. Something else I’ve been wondering, as well, is if Amy Adams wore a wig. She definitely wasn’t the prettiest she’s ever been in this movie, but that’s what I liked about it. She was normal. Still way prettier than most, but she looked like someone that you could see on your corner.

Julie & Julia…a must see…not just for those people needing motivation. It’s a good movie about finding yourself and being able to make things happen. See it…let me know if it made you feel the same way. And “BON APPETITE!!!”

I’m not surprised that I’ve already found one that I really like. I AM surprised though that I haven’t found more!!! I love new music and just plain new things…best of both worlds here.

A New Day

I recently decided that I needed to upgrade my life. Not just a techie thing, either. I mean, I need a complete make over. I think it was once said that if you don’t like where you’re life is…then do something about it.

I guess that’s what I’m here to do. Starting here, blogging about all the changes that I plan to make. Hopefully, I will be able to keep this up and actually have something to say. HA!!

One of the changes, many actually, I’ve had to make this year is in friends. It’s really heartbreaking to know that you’ve spent years trying to be friends with someone and that it didn’t mean a damn thing. I know, this begs the question…what happened? Well…lets just say that I had a very good friend, best friend even, that just went totally…crazy. I feel stupid for even having been friends with her so long. Especially, telling her so many things that had happened in my life. Hell, she was there when my dad died. Yet, it doesn’t seem like it was worth any of it.

First of all, I realized that I was being taken advantage of. That’s one of the worst feelings. She would use me for money (that I don’t have and was stupid to offer), then it started to get worse. I was the third wheel…sometimes fourth when we would do things. She’s married…I’m not…has one kid…I have none…and it started getting to the point that I was watching the kid more than they would. I’m not a babysitter. I refuse to go over to my friends house and have to get on to her kid more than her!!! It’s just not my idea of fun. Hell, I work at a library. I do that most everyday all day.

The worst part of all…is that they tried to introduce me into their marriage. WHAT!?! I’ve been told to be flattered (by a guy of course), but really? I’m supposed to be your best friend. So many things come into play with that. I’m glad you two are open enough to do that sort of thing but I’m not comfortable with that. AT ALL. Anyway, this made me totally back off from the relationship. We haven’t really talked since….this was in January.

Something else…it seems that I’m the only one in this relationship that does anything wrong. I have to apologize whenever we don’t talk. I’m sorry, but I’m done taking all the blame. Just because I don’t want to be at your beck and call, doesn’t mean I’m wrong. Oh wait…yes it does. I forget…my bad. The only thing I’m really mad about is that you still have my Harry Potter series DVD’s. I want them back!!!

And tell your husband to quit sending me dirty joke texts!!! It’s bad enough you offered him to me!!

Zydeco Music

I’ve always known about this type of music, but have never known what it was called. Well… I work at a library and we had a Zydeco band there. The band’s name is Leon Chavis and the Zydeco Flames. Since we’re a smaller library we only had two members of the band there…Leon Chavis and his father Joseph. It was awesome!!! Not only do they perform Zydeco music, but they mix it with hip hop and make it more contemporary. It’s way cool.

I really enjoyed hearing them live. The whole crowd got involved and got up dancing. I, unfortunately, was working so I couldn’t get up there and shake my groove thang (not that I would have anyway ). It’s made me really want to look into the style of music though. It’s fun and up beat. For those of you that don’t know much about Zydeco…here is what Wikipedia says about it…

Zydeco (French: “les haricots” or “le zaricot”, English: “green beans”) is a form of American roots or folk music. It evolved in southwest Louisiana in the early 20th century from forms of Louisiana Creole music. The rural black Creoles of southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas still sang in Creole French.

Usually fast tempo and dominated by the button or piano accordion and a form of a washboard known as a “rub-board,” “scrub-board,” or frottoir, zydeco music was originally created at house dances, where families and friends gathered for socializing.

Sometimes the music moved to the Catholic church community center, as Creoles were mostly Catholic. Later it moved to rural dance halls and nightclubs. As a result, the music integrated waltzes, shuffles, two-steps, blues, rock and roll, and most dance music forms of the era. Today, the tradition of change and evolution in the music continues. It stays current while integrating even more genres such as R&B, soul, brass band, reggae, urban hip-hop, ska, rock, Afro-Caribbean and other styles, in addition to the traditional forms.

I love different “cultures” and art forms. It’s nice to see stuff like this. Makes me want to go find some dijeridu music. That’s freaking cool too. And if you don’t know what that is…well you have a homework assignment now. lol.

David Cook

I absolutely love David Cook’s first album. Yes, I watched that season of American Idol and yes, I went and saw this season of AI on tour. Why did I go? David Cook…

Not only is he freaking hot!!!

But he can freaking sing. And it’s about damn time that America got it right. The songs on the album are damn good and his voice is awesome. I want to pick a certain song to talk about….but I can’t. They’re all good.

Since right now the only single that is out is “Light On” (Plus I love it) here’s the video.

Now if you don’t like that…please enlighten me on something better out there. I’m always up for finding something new.

Ray LaMontagne

I live for music and well…I like a lot of different stuff. One of those in that category is…Ray LaMontagne…

Does he have the best songs? No. Does he sound old fashioned? Yes. Why do I like him? I could listen to him sing for hours. He has the best voice. I definitely recommend you just sit and listen to his voice. He could sing the phone book and it would be awesome. LOL

Is it bad I don’t even listen to the words? Hahaha

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Ok, is it just me…or was this one waaaaay better than the first? I really enjoyed watching this movie. It actually kept my attention the entire time. That’s hard to do now a days. Anyway, yay for Disney for actually doing something right, again.

Craziness

So, I haven’t had a crazy or random thoughts in awhile and well…it’s time.

My random thought of…I guess this week/month is more of something that I saw driving home from work the other day.

I was driving…minding my own business…when I noticed this truck in front of me that I was about to pass on the highway had one of those video screens. Normally, I see those in a van, suv, or some kind of car that has children in it. Well, I noticed in this one cab truck that it was really close to the drivers steering wheel and that it was a freaking huge screen. The fact that it was pitch black outside probably helped me actually see it too, though. Anyway, I saw it and thought…I wonder what a single person in a truck like that would be watching. So, of course as I was passing by it I had to take a gander at what was on the screen. Mistake. BIG MISTAKE. The dude in the car was watching porn. PORN. On the highway. Going at least 60-65 MPH. That is so not safe. One it’s not safe to being watching anything while you’re driving, but for a guy to be watching porn while he was driving had to have been even more distracting. Not to mention that both are highly illegal. I think I have seen it all now. At least driving-wise. Come on people. No wonder. That’s all I have to say…no wonder.
